How Epilepsy can affect lives and how Chiropractic Care can help
Last Wednesday 19th November I spoke to Deirdre O’Shaughnessy and PJ Coogan on Cork’s 96FM Opinion Line about epilepsy.
PJ and Deirdre spoke to a girl called Amanda who suffers from epilepsy and recurring seizures for 4 years. She spoke of how the seizures have made it next to impossible to find work and how it has affected her life.
Mary rang in about her son who had to give up work due to his epilepsy. However, thanks to Chiropractic Care he has returned to work and is living a normal life.
Listen to a clip of the interview below:
There is an increasing amount of research suggesting that chiropractic adjustments positively influence the brain.
In a 2001 study, published in the Journal Of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, researchers looked at 17 children who had received unsuccessful management with anticonvulsive medications.
88% of the patients (15 out of 17) who received chiropractic care, experienced significant reduction in the frequency and severity of their epileptic seizures. The author concluded that “chiropractic care may represent a non pharmaceutical approach for pediatric epileptic patients”.
So, if you know someone who is suffering from epilepsy, especially if they are not responding to medication, let them know that chiropractic might be a safe option to look into. Have them call the office on 021 487 84 65.
