For my family getting checked weekly is a given. My daughter Aisling is checked (and adjusted if needed) weekly.
She started school recently and her weekly visit to the office will continue throughout her schooling.
I’m privileged that parents bring their children to see me for treatment.
Often parents seek care for spinal problems that might have occurred at birth (due to a complicated labour) or because of trauma from an injury of some sort.
Unfortunately children can’t be monitored 24/7 and falls and bumps can happen that you never find out about that may lead to misalignments in the spine.
These misalignments may or may not result in immediate pain or symptoms.
Regular chiropractic check-ups can identify potential spinal injury from these traumas, make the correction early in life and help avoid many of the health complaints seen later in adults.
Another sought out reason for care is the resolution of a particular symptom or condition.
Parents seek care for conditions such as colic, ear infections, asthma, allergies and headaches, stress or anxiety (to name a few) because they have heard from other parents that chiropractic care can help.
Parents may be concerned about a chiropractor visit being stressful for a child and I can assure you that in Optimal Chiropractic there is nothing at all for a child to fear or be nervous about.
Our clinic is welcoming and colourful and children, not to mention all patients, are always made to feel at ease.
A misconception often for first time patients is whether the treatment is painful – the answer is no – the technique is low force – think about how gently you check if fruit is ripe – this is the pressure applied during a check.
My main goal when treating a child whether it’s a spinal issue or if they are suffering from headaches or asthma is they leave my clinic feeling happier and better and I’m glad to report that they always do.
If you are thinking of bringing you child to a chiropractor and have any questions at all about the treatment then please don’t hesitate to call the clinic on 021 487 84 65 and we will be delighted to tell you all about the treatment available for children.
